Just south of East Portlemouth beach you will find Mill Bay which is a privately owned beach. Mill Bay beach has become popular with families thanks to the clean and safe bathing waters and the stunning AONB which the beach lies in. At low tide there are plenty of rocks for the kids to explore. Parking in the area is limited so it is often advised to take the ferry from Salcombe. Dogs are welcome all year round.

With the growing number of Devon cottages allowing pets the county is fast becoming one of the most popular destinations in the UK for pet holidays. If you are one of the many thousand who will be heading to Devon this year for a holiday with your dog then here is our guide to some of the dog friendly beaches available in Devon.
This pretty beach is just opposite the popular town of Salcombe along the eastern side of the estuary which stretches from East Portlemouth almost out to the English Channel. You will easily be able to see why the area has been awarded an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) status and it makes the perfect place to spend your day relaxing, walking or building sandcastles in the sun. A cafe is available serving local organic food. Dogs are welcome all year round.
Salcombe North Sands Beach is another AONB which is located between two headlands. The beach retains it rural charms despite being close to the town of Salcombe with all its amenities. The beach is only available during low tide as it is totally submerged during high tides. Dogs are welcome all year round.
