To enhance the operations, programs, and services
of its member health-related charitable agencies
through access to workplace giving.
To provide employees at worksites access to the
full range of information, services and referrals
provided by member charities, in order to improve
the health and well-being of employees and
encourage community involvement.
4Community Health Charities History
- Founded by health charities to conduct
workplacefund raising in 1957 - Represents more than 50 of Americas premier
national health charities and nearly 2,000 of
their local chapters - In June 1998, Community Health Charities was
formed through a merger between National
Voluntary Health Agencies and Combined Health
Appeal making CHC the largest workplace giving
organization with a focus on health issues in the
country - Over the past five years Community Health
Charities has distributed more than 330 million
to its member charities - Â

Chronic Illness today.
- Diabetes has doubled in the past decade to 16.5
million, with over 76 million in pre-diabetes or
at-risk stage. - Over 250,000 new cases of breast cancer each
year. - Alzheimers will triple from 5 million today to
16 million by 2050.

8Investing in Health Management
- Do nothing strategy no longer works.
- Waiting until costs are unmanageable can be more
costly and ineffective. - The goal of effective worksite health promotion
initiatives is to shift the curve by investing in
prevention rather than high-cost management. - Employers need to manage the health of their
human capital like they manage other corporate
assets.
