The Josefsheim gGmbH a subsidiary of the
JG-group
At present the JG-group has 22 facilities
focusing on the rehabilitation of the physically
disabled and people with multiple
disabilities. Josefsheim gGmbH is the founding
entity of the JG-group and thus looks back on a
tradition spanning more than 100 years.

The history of Josefsheim Bigge

• The Josefsheim was founded in 1904
• by baron von Wendt and rector
• Heinrich Sommer.
• Work commenced with the care for
• and employment of 7 foster children.
• Initially, a case room, a printing office
• and a bookbinding shop were
• established.
• Today the Josefsheim gGmbH is a
• modern institution for the rehabilitation
• of people with physical, learning and
• sensory disabilities.

• The competence centre assisted living
• offers specific forms of housing for
• adults, children, adolescents and young

• The housing forms are adapted to
• meet the individual needs of the
• disabled people in order to enable them
• to lead a self-determined life according
• to their own wishes and ideas.

• The follwing housing alternatives are

• housing in appartments for couples
• and single persons
• flat sharing communities
• stationary housing in hired appartments
• in the municipal area
• single housing in housing groups
• tentative housing
• housing groups for children, adolescents
• and young adults

A remedial Kindergarten and an open assistance
department also belong to the assisted living
department.

• Approximately 335 positions in various
• offices, production areas and services
• are available.
• A part of our manufacturing process
• involves producing our own products.
• Cooperation with companies that are
• either in the near vicinity or further afield
• The main production locations are the
• works in Bigge, with a further branch
• in Lipperode and other external work
• areas nearby.

• The brewery
• Our brewery was established in
• 2000 as an integration company.
• It was the first company in Europe
• that provided handicapped
• accessible workplaces for the
• production of beverages.
• Eight work places were created.
• The product range includes
• 5 different sorts of beer
• (Josefsbräu)
• and 14 nonalcoholic beverages
• (Josy).
