  • What assumptions did I make and what were my
    justifications?
  • What problems did I encounter?
  • What results did I obtain?
  • Have I solved the problem?
  • What have I found out?
  • Are the analyses sound?

Answer these questions.
  • What are you trying to say?
  • How will you say it?
  • How did you do it?
  • Why does this matter?
  • Who did what?
  • Why is this important?

Know thyself
  • Tips for YOU (the presenter)
  • Include pertinent methods
  • Include sources of reagents
  • Outline important points (nervousness)
  • Create a logical flow

Know thine audience
  • FONT sizes consistency (3 ft. rule)
  • Give complete information, if possible
  • Use only data supporting the data, the abstract
    or your conclusions
  • Answer questions in case youre NOT there
  • Poster on display longer than presenter
  • Other meeting scheduling conflicts

  • Label graphs and figures!!!!
  • X-axis, Y-axis, SE or SD????
  • Spell check
  • Give yourself added time
  • Email/web-based services for printing
  • e.g. Kinko's
