Santa Monica real estate market continues to
perform

• Property values continue to see increase in
  Santa Monica real estate as need for housing
  grows
• The news about Santa Monica real estate this
  spring proves the market is continuing to add
  value. More than one newspaper report says prices
  and rents are increasing and demand shows little
  sign of slowing.
• This shows Santa Monica and the surrounding
  area is growing. We have the jobs, we have the
  cultural activities people want and we have the
  beach, of course, said Kim Halverson, who runs
  Berkshire Hathaway Home Services California
  Properties with her sister Kristine.
• Zillow reports the price of the average home
  in the area rose 4 percent over the past year and
  2.2 percent increase is expected over the next
  year. The report puts the median price at
  1,188,700. Zillow describes the Santa Monica
  real estate market as very hot.

• Truly shows much the same. It tracks back to
  the year 2000, showing a pretty steady climb in
  real estate values. Even the nations housing
  bubble and resulting crash did not have a major
  effect on real estate in the area.
• Thats exactly what we saw, said Kristine
  Halverson. There was a dip, but if you track
  sales long term, its been an increase. In 2000,
  the media price was 336,000. Now its close to
  1.2 million and expected to climb even more.
• The sisters say they are seeing people realize
  how much equity they have and are selling their
  homes. They are buying other homes or using the
  money to plan other things to do with their life.
  The people coming in have noted the rise and
  expect to ride the increase.
