• Purpose
• To teach youth to identify the native flora and
  of the Sierra Nevada. Students learn the names
  of trees, shrubs, and wildflowers and how to
  identify them by their characteristics.

GuidelinesEach level requires students to
identify 3 native trees or shrubs. To become a
Jr. Botanist students will know 18 native plants.

• Red - Level 1 any 3 dominant trees/shrubs at
  site
• Orange Level 2 add any 3 trees or shrubs
• Yellow Level 3 add any 3 trees or shrubs
• Green Level 4 add any 3 trees or shrubs
• Blue Level 5 add any 3 trees or shrubs
• Purple Level 6 add any 3 trees, shrubs or
  flowers
