4Gross Solar Feed-in Tariff
The gross feed-in tariff was rolled out in New
South Wales a few years ago and stopped in early
2011. The gross feed-in tariff is still currently
available in the ACT, however it is not certain
for how much longer. In a nutshell, a gross
feed-in tariff allows you to have your solar
panels feed every Watt of electricity they
produce back to the grid. This is different to a
net feed-in tariff, with which you do not have to
use the solar energy on your home or workplace
first.
5Net Solar Feed-in Tariff
The Net Feed-in Tariff is standard practice
across most of the country now. Its kind of like
an overflow system. What you do not use in your
home or workplace will overflow back into the
grid and you will be paid for it. Net feed-in
tariffs are probably designed to make people
become more aware of their energy consumption.
Some people have even be known to read with
candles so they dont use any power whilst their
panels are at work.
6State Feed in Tariffs
State and Territory governments across Australia
have adopted different approaches to what is
normally referred to as a Solar Feed-In Tariff,
sometimes known as a Solar Bonus Scheme or Solar
buy-back scheme.
7Solar Credits Rebate Explained
The amount of certificates your new system
generates depends on the location of the
installation. Check out the map to see what zone
youre in. Certificates or STCs have a changing
value. This is because they are tradable.
Basically, when the demand for the certificates
is high, the value of the certificates
increases. When the demand is low,
the certificate value is low. For more in-depth
information please visit Clean Energy Regulator

The bigger the system, the bigger the point of
sale discount. If you install a 3.0kW system in
Zone 3, you will produce 62 certificates. Thats
an additional 31 certificates on top of the 31
for the first 1.5kWs worth of panels. Below the
Solar Credits rebate examples.
