Title: How to make ChocolateChip Cookies

1
How to make Chocolate-Chip Cookies!
  • By Erica Wright

(Its really a lesson on how to incorporate a
baking lesson with your class with the book When
you give a mouse a cookie)
2
The secret cookie recipe
  • If I were you, I would not follow my recipe here
in this PowerPoint. I really dont make good
cookies, and I usually burn them.
  • If you want great cookies please follow online
directions. A cookbook would be even better. I
hope you read this slide before proceeding

3
If you give a mouse a cookie
  • This is a great book to read to the children in
your class when making cookies in the classroom.

  • When reading this book, you can tie in an
exciting artsy, cooking lesson with it by
    following the recipe here.
  • Click here for more info!

Ingredients
  • 1 cup butter, room temperature
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 to 3 cups semisweet chocolate chips

5
About Ingredients
  • Brown eggs are better than white.
  • If you dont have a teaspoon measurement, just
guess as well as you can.
  • Most any chocolate chips will do.

6
First Preparation
  • In a very large bowl, mix the butter and sugars
until the batter is light and fluffy. Beat in the
eggs and vanilla once youre at the good
    consistency.
  • Make sure the flour, salt, baking powder, and
baking soda are all sifted. Once they are, stir
into the mixture and blend well. Once all of that
is done, stir in the chocolate chips.

7
Final Preparation
  • Shape the batter into balls about 2 inches in
diameter and place about 2 inches apart on an
    un-greased cookie sheet.
  • If you make smaller cookies, you can also use
    another cookie sheet.
  • Another good idea is to use cookie cutters to cut
    the cookies into neat shapes.

8
Baking
  • Once you are ready to cook, preheat the oven to
    350. Once its preheated, cook at the same
temperature for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges
    are light brown.
  • If you do it correctly, you should have around 4
    to 5 dozen cookies.

9
Yum!
  • Once the cookies are out of the oven, make sure
    they are cooled down.
  • Be sure to serve warm with cold milk, and you
could also let the kids decorate with icing.

10
When you give a mouse a cookie and the cookies!
  • If you have problems getting the ingredients,
parents will always be happy to donate. Also,
many grocery stores are good with giving away
    things for schools.
  • Hopefully this will make your kids excited about
reading the story, and I wish you luck on
    following my recipe!
