EWH Mission
  • To answer the needs of disadvantaged areas
    through providing and maintaining appropriate
    medical technology.
  • It aims to send quality equipment, do routine
consultation on the equipment, and evaluate the
situation to see what is needed and who needs
    help.

3
Our Mission
  • Promote the EWH mission though several different
    projects
  • Projects Include Equipment Design, Repair,
    Build Fundraising Summer Institute

4
Equipment Design
  • A design project can invent anything which
fulfills a need that will be beneficial to the
    developing world
  • Structure Each project will have a leader and
    several members
  • Leader It is the responsibility of the leader to
propose and initiate the project, as well as
maintain its progress throughout the semester
  • Proposal Following EWH guidelines a specific
proposal for a project must be drafted.
  • Prototype After receiving funding from the
national chapter, a prototype will be constructed
with the equipment in Clark hall.
  • Ideas Project ideas are given by EWH, but other
suggestions are can also be submitted for their
    need to EWH

5
Current Design Ideas
  • Ionizing Radiation Meter
  • Oxygen Concentration Detection
  • Pulse Oximeter for Heart Rate
  • Cold Box
  • Clorox Mixture Monitoring

6
Equipment Build
  • Equipment builds will allow us to engineer
necessary equipment from specifications given by
    EWH
  • Structure Build teams will have one or more
leaders and any EWH member may be part of the
    build.
  • Leader The leaders will learn how to build the
equipment and be able to teach members at the
    time of the build.
  • Funding Funding will be provided by the chapter
(by virtue of its benefactors). Equipment costs
and itemization must be made through the
    treasurer
  • Ideas Ideas for builds can be gathered from
various sources (ie. instructables.com) or EWH
headquarters. Anyone interested in building a
certain piece of equipment must have any idea
authorized by EWH to evaluate its need.

7
The Bili-Meter
  • The purpose of this device is to ensure the
correct wavelength of emitted light for
    phototherapy units.

8
Equipment Repair
  • Equipment repair will allow us to volunteer
  • our time and skill to companies/hospitals that
share the goal of providing medical equipment to
    the developing world.
  • Projects Leaders will initiate contacts
throughout the industry and organize events for
members to travel and help repair medical
    equipment.

9
Fundraising and Summer Institute
  • Ordinary Fundraising activities held by NPOs
  • Summer institute- check www.ewh.org for more
information. We may use some of our fundraising
to help those who are chosen by EWH to represent
our chapter in the developing world
