• The Lamb

THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH

• He is described as the Lion of the tribe of
  Judah. This denotes royalty and strength. Gen
  498-10.
• He is described as the root of David. David was
  only King because Christ was his root and out of
  that root the man Christ Jesus was born. Here we
  see his royalty and humanity.
• As these two titles are essentially Jewish we
  cannot ignore the fact that God still has a great
  future for Israel within the Church.

THE LAMB IN THE MIDST OF THE THRONE

• John saw Christ not as a lion but as a lamb.
  Although he has all power he came in meekness and
  humility as a lamb.
• He is the lamb in the midst of the throne. At
  the heart of the eternal purpose of God is
  Christ.
• He is the lamb freshly slain because his
  sacrifice is central to Gods plan.
• He has seven horns representing his power
• He has seven eyes which are the seven spirits or
  the perfect work of the spirit John 1416-18.

THE PRAYERS OF ALL SAINTS

• The prayers of the saints indicate that the
  people of God have prayed for the glorious day of
  final victory.
• The lamb is praised with a new song by all in
  glory.
• Forever Christ will be glorified as the one who
  implemented the decree of God in bringing home
  the elect and establishing the kingdom of the
  church.

The Opening Of The Seven Seals

• In the opening of the seven seals we see the
  various circumstances planned by God which
  ultimately lead to the final overthrow of Satans
  Kingdom with the Second Coming Of Christ

SEALS ONE TO FOUR

• The four horsemen of the Apocalypse

THE FIRST SEAL

• The opening of the first seal represents Christ
  going forth in the establishing of His Church.
• The onward growth of the church has been the
  world story since Pentecost.
• This seal relates to mans relationship to the
  kingdom of God.

• White horse purity.
• Bow power.
• Crown royalty.
• Conquering victorious.

THE SECOND SEAL

• The second horse represents war.
• This is a common theme in world history.
• This seal relates to the relationship of nations
  to one another.

• Red bloodshed.
• The ambitions of men make this inevitable.
• God works his purpose through war.

THE THIRD SEAL

• The third seal represents famine.
• After war this is the second greatest blight upon
  the earth.
• This seal relates to the relationship of man to
  things material.

• Black sorrow / death.
• Necessities sold at exorbitant prices.
• Rich living in luxury.
• God works his purpose through this human tragedy.

THE FOURTH SEAL

• The fourth seal brings us to the terrifying
  picture of death.
• This is the one great enemy that man cannot
  conquer.
• This seal relates to mans relationship to life
  itself.

• The pale horse is the colour of death.
• His arrival is certain.
• For many death is the entrance into Hell.

• The Martyrs Of The Cross

THE FIFTH SEAL

• The martyrdom of the saints is controlled by
  Christ.
• The martyrdom of the saints has a special role in
  the growth of the Church.
• The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the
  church.

• These saints had souls which could be seen
  indicating that the souls of the saints have
  form.
• They were under the altar because they died upon
  the altar of consecration to Christ.
• They lived as witnesses to the word of God.
• They were in the front line of the battle between
  light and darkness.

• Their prayer was a desire for the coming of
  Christs Kingdom so that He would be vindicated.
• The white robes represent justification, holiness
  and victory.
• They were assured that the hour of vindication
  would come in a little while. Christs return is
  always pictured as being near at hand.
• There will be further martyrdoms before the
  Saviour comes.

• The End Of The World

• We must interpret the sixth seal literally
  because of the corroborating evidence in other
  portions of scripture.
• Joel 210,11, 30 31, Haggai 26,7, Matthew
  2429, Luke 219-11, 25 26.

• The break up of the universe will be astonishing
  on an unparalleled scale.
• What will terrify the world of men however will
  be Christ, not the natural phenomena.
• The throne which brings comfort to the church
  will bring sorrow to the unsaved.
• The Lamb who brings salvation to the redeemed
  will bring damnation to the unconverted.
