iauliai County is one of ten counties in
Lithuania. Its area is 8540 sq. km. There are ab
out 354 thousand people in the county.
iauliai County consists of 6 municipalities and
iauliai city.

iauliai County
In iauliai County, the manufacturing industry is
mostly developed. The biggest share in the struc
ture of manufacturing industry, according to
sales, falls on production of radio, television
and communication equipment and apparatus, other
transport equipment (bicycles), food products and
drinks, textile, furniture, rubber and plastic
production, electrical machines and ap-paratus,
wood production.

About 55,9 thousand of schoolchildren attend 185
schools of general education in iauliai County.
8 state vocational schools perform their activit
ies in the County (3 centres of vocational
training, 4 agricultural schools and 1
rehabilitation vocational training centre). 5,39
thousand of pupils study in these schools.
There are 5 higher schools in iauliai County -
iauliai University and four colleges with more
than 16 thousand students.

iauliai County
There are 105 cultural centres in iauliai
County. 766 artistic collectives performes their
activities there. Traditional arts, wooden archi
tecture is still alive in iauliai County.
One of the biggest proud of the County is the
Hill of Crosses - historical and architectural
monument, a unique composition of folk art, which
attracts people with its peace, spirituality,
authenticity, and sacred nature.

iauliai city is the capital of iauliai Count
y. City covers an area of 81 sq. Km. It is fourth
largest town in Lithuania both by area and
population. The population of iauliai is 129 tho
usand inhabitants.

Traditional business such as leather, timber and
furniture processing, electronic and household
technology and transportation means,
manufacturing of plastic and metal products are
being developed in the iauliai City.
The city is proud of TV sets, bicycles, leather
articles, machine tools, knitwear, non-woven
materials. The successful development of
confectioneries, brewery implies hope for the
economic revival of the city.

There is St. Apostales Peter and Paul's Cathedra
l, which is the highest in Lithuania, in iauliai
City. In the main heart of iauliai is boulevard
the first street for the pedestrian in East
Europe. iauliai has Drama theatre, Symphony Orc
hestra, choir.

iauliai Vocational Education and Training Centre
was founded in 2004. The Centre is an educational
institution, which provides with professional
qualification and general education.

STRUCTURE

The Centre trains qualified workers of 49
specialities. There are about 2800 students and
455 employees in the Centre. 100 teachers train
general education subjects and 150 teachers train
professional subjects.

The benefits of DEMOP to iauliai VET (1)
iauliai Vocational Education and Training Centre
will be an active participant in the developing
modular training programmes for the profession of
a decorator/painter, a corresponding credit
system and examples of methodological material.

As a result of the project, modular teaching
programme for decorators/painters will be created
and agreed with EU VET institutions programmes.
Because of this, students qualification, who will
be prepared according this programme, will
fulfill EU standards for constructors.

Innovative methodical material, prepared during
the project realization, will be good tool to
enhance the quality of teaching in iauliai
Vocational Education and Training Centre.

specialties, which would be analogous for the
