Niigata Prefecture - Provide an exchange experience for development of
nonprofit sector in Niigata and - Further the grass-root sister-relationship
between Niigata and Pennsylvania
3Specific Sanjo Goals
- To exhibit the nonprofit situation in Sanjo area
and get consultation on planning for establishing
an intermediary organization - To witness the uniqueness of nonprofit activities
in the Sanjo area, by visiting sites and meeting
leaders - To network with leaders about nonprofit activity

- Motivate participants of nonprofits, volunteering
and social issues - Get fundraising knowledge and ideas

- To discuss the collaboration of public and
nonprofit sectors and roles of intermediary
organization - To learn from case studies of nonprofit
activities in Pennsylvania toward social issues - To get advice on fundraising for intermediary
organizations - To develop business and personal relationships
among participants with different social positions

- Participating in a Community Event in Murakami
- The 7th Bamboo Lantern Festival. Lighting 5000
lanterns made of bamboo in the castle town with
traditional Japanese instrumental music - Recruit 50 more volunteers, especially involve
non-Japanese residents in Niigata - Get new perspectives on running the event
