Welcome to Augusts edition of the Bradley Stokes
Neighbourhood policing teams newsletter. One
issue that seems to be effecting a lot of
residents is nuisance motorbikes/,mopeds in the
area. We have released a press release about what
we are doing as below. POLICE WARN ACCIDENT
WAITING TO HAPPEN AT WILDLIFE PARK The
Neighbourhood Team is warning that an accident is
waiting to happen at a nature reserve in Bradley
Stoke because motorcyclists are using the area
for scrambling. Youngsters, often without
helmets, are scrambling around the Three Brooks
Nature Reserve, known locally as the Duck Pond
on mopeds, motorcycles and mini-mopeds. Neighbourh
ood PC Michael Friis said This is just not on.
These youngsters are putting themselves at risk,
and endangering the children and walkers who
visit this popular site. If anyone does get hurt,
it would be very difficult to get medical help
onto the site. There are no rights of way for
vehicles across this reserve. Only pedal cycles
and walkers are permitted. People living nearby
have complained to police about the nuisance, as
well as families and dog walkers who visit the
area. In response, the Neighbourhood Team is
running regular high visibility patrols in the
area. PC Friis added Anyone caught riding any
sort of motorbike in the nature reserve could
find their vehicle seized and even crushed by
police. Officers have a power under Section 59
of the Police Reform Act to seize a vehicle being
used to cause alarm or in an anti-social manner.
Have Your Say in Bradley Stoke
We are currently working with some young people
in the area who are beginning to get involved in
low level anti-social behaviour. We are working
with ASB team at Safer South Glos and the youths
parents encouraging them to participate in
anti-social behaviour contracts. This is aimed at
the young people taking responsibility for their
actions and therefore not getting involved in
further anti-social activities.
The next Safer and Stronger community group
meeting is being held on Tuesday 30th September
at 7pm at Bradley Stoke Community School. Please
attend the next meeting and have your say about
local issues that are affecting YOU If you
have any questions about any of the issues
mentioned in this newsletter or wish for a member
of the team to attend your community group or
meeting please contact us.
