  • Homeroom

    room

    for math activities
  • Period 7 Organize by city-states for Greek
    pottery project introduction
  • Period 8 Organize by P.M. roster for Olympic

  • Period 9 Report to cafeteria for the Greek Food
    Fest

Homeroom
  • Report to homeroom as usual
  • Make sure you have a writing instrument, a bed
    sheet and safety pins, and any props/papers
    needed for your Greek play
  • Attendance will be taken in homeroom as usual,
    Tiger TV will be viewed and the Pledge of
    Allegiance will be recited
  • After the homeroom dismissal bell, report to your
    assigned city-state room

  • Assemble chitons
  • Assemble headbands
  • Choose a Greek name (gender specific) and place
    it on your name tag
  • Use tape to attach your name tag to your chiton
  • Finish any needed city-state work
  • Practice city-state handshake and chant
  • Dismiss at 830 A.M. to lgi with needed materials

  • When in the audience, be polite and respectful.
  • Listen closely!
  • Hold applause until the end of each play!

Periods 4, 6, 7, 8Auditorium Expectations
  • Using the posted signs, sit by city-state and
    stay with your city-state during periods 4 7.
  • Sit appropriately in the auditorium seats!
  • Carefully listen to the teachers directions!
  • It is a large room cooperate!
  • Be quiet when needed!
  • Be polite and respectful of others!
  • All school/team rules apply!
  • Team Event Policy will be enforced!

Period FourHistory Activities
  • City-states will present alphabetically (a Greek
    invention)
  • On the way to the stage area, chant, display
    banner and wave logos
  • Groups will present alphabetically banner,
    city-state profile, chant, handshake, logo and
    oath
  • All group members will approach the microphone
  • All group members must participate and speak
    during the presentation
  • If needed, use the colored papers to help you
    present
  • Step back from the microphone when finished
  • When all of the groups are finished presenting,
    chant, display banner and wave logos
  • Enjoy and have fun!

  • Groups will organize by P.M. roster
  • Stay with your P.M. group at all times
  • The math activities include Logic Puzzles and
    Triangles
  • Carefully listen to the teachers instructions in
    order to successfully complete the activities

  • Teacher presentation of pottery project
  • Students select pottery pattern
  • Students trace pattern
  • Students cut out pattern and identify it
  • Students create a sloppy copy pottery design

Period Eight Olympic Events
  • History Ancient Games
  • The accepted date of the first Olympiad is 776
    B.C.E.
  • The games were held In honor of Zeus.
  • The games were held in Olympia, Greece.
  • Only males could participate and attend the
    events.
  • Major events included the chariot race, boxing,
    the pancratium, the pentathlon, and foot races.
  • The ancient games were ceased in 392 C.E. because
    they were viewed as a pagan ritual by Christians.

  • The Modern Games
  • Revived by a French baron, Pierre de Coubertin,
    in 1896
  • First modern games were held in Athens in honor
    of the ancient Greek games.
  • Athletes pledge, We swear that we will take part
    in these Olympic Games in the true spirit of
    sportsmanship and that we will respect and abide
    by the rules which govern them for the glory of
    the sport and the honor of our country.

  • The Olympic Symbol
  • Five interlocking rings represent the five major
    continents of the world
  • Colors in order from left to right blue,
    yellow, black, green, and red.
  • The colors are special because at least one of
    them appears in the flag of every nation of the
    world
  • The colorful rings are joined together to remind
    us of the sporting friendship of all mankind.

  • These words are used to build healthy attitudes
    and winning spirits in preparation for
    competition

  • Enter cafeteria in an orderly fashion.
  • Listen to the teachers instructions.
  • Take only one sample from each food type.
  • Sit down after you have gotten your food and
    drink samples.
  • Be careful not to spill drinks!
  • Dispose of all garbage in the appropriate waste
    facilities.
