Possession of Communication Devices
  • Communication devices should remain out of sight
    and be turned off during school hours. No
    students may utilize communication devices during
    school hours for any reason.
  • Students may utilize communication devices before
    or after school or at school sponsored events as
    deemed reasonable by their supervising
    teacher(s).
  • If a student is in violation of this policy, the
    communication device will be confiscated and
    returned to the parent on the first offense.
    Student may lose communication device until end
    of the semester or year if more than one offense
    occurs. This will be handled at the discretion of
    the Principal or SAM.

Electronics
  • MP3 players and other electronic devices are
    prohibited.

OUTSIDE FOOD
  • Outside commercial (restaurant) food is not
    permitted to be brought to the campus by parents
    or any outside individual. Students must bring
    their lunch with them or parents may bring in
    home prepared food for their child only.
  • Somerset Independent Schools is initiating a
    Wellness program for all of our students and we
    need your participation and cooperation in this
    manner.

Gum and Candy
  • According to the districts Wellness policy candy
    is not allowed. Gum use is at the discretion of
    each teacher.

Prescription Medication
  • Meece Middle School has a full time nurse who is
    available by 745 am each day for all medical or
    prescription medication questions or concerns.
  • Prescription medication or over the counter
    medication is not allowed to be possessed by MMS
    students. All medications must be given to the
    school nurse upon arrival to school.
  • Medication Procedures
  • All medication must be administered in the
    nurses station with school/health personnel
    present.
  • All medication must be in the original container
    with the pharmacy label intact and readable
  • A copy of the MMS medical release form, signed by
    the parent, is on file before any school
    personnel may administer medicine.
  • Medication may not be given at school by anyone
    other than parent or legal guardian until all
    paperwork associated with medical release has
    been completely filled out and returned to the
    school nurse.
