Our Purpose
  • To introduce exciting, supplemental, reliable and
    timely materials which FCS educators can use to
    meet the No Child Left Behind mandate through
    experiential learning and career exploration.

Our Methodology
  • We will illustrate how Nebraska-made 4-H
    curricula provide ideal alternatives through
    research-based options which are affordable and
    easily accessible.
  • These materials are currently available to
    educators and schools through the Universitys
    Extension System.

Our Methodology
  • Participants will be able to access this Power
    Point presentation on the Nebraska 4-H curriculum
    web site. It can be adapted for their use
    describing the validity and desirability of using
    4-H curricula.

Land-grant Institutions
  • 1862 Morrill Act provided for Land-grant
    institutions in all states to provide instruction
    in agriculture and mechanical arts.
  • The traditional land-grant mission focuses on
    three areas
  • Teaching
  • Research
  • Extension / Outreach

Land Grant Institutions
  • All 50 states, and the District of Columbia,
    Puerto Rico, Virgin Islands and Guam, have at
    least one land-grant university with the
    three-part mission.

    institution provide amazing opportunities for
    youth to experience education at the highest
    level-and with the assurance of quality and
    accurate materials.

  • 105 State Land Grant Universities
  • Conducted in 3,051 counties in the US
  • District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Virgin
    Islands, Guam, American Samoa, Micronesia, and

  • Some states offer 4-H exclusively in the schools
  • Other states like Nebraska use a multi-delivery
    method

  • Approximately 60 of our 4-H participants are

    adaptable to younger or older audiences.
  • A place where anyone can learn to cook
