1 John 511-13Doctrine of Eternal Life

John 316, For God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes
in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

John 336, He that believes on the Son has
eternal life, but he who does not believe on the
Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God
abides on him.

In this Dispensation, God has provided forty
things for the believer at the moment of faith in
Jesus Christ.

1. Definitiona. Eternal AIONIOS, without
beginning and end, never to cease that which
always has been and always will be

Lasting for all time without beginning or end
unaffected by the passage of time going on
forever or recurring incessantly.

b. Life ZOE, the state of one who is possessed
of vitality or is animate real and genuine the
state of existence active and vigorous and the
period during which something continues to
function.

In contrast, everlasting is having a beginning,
yet without an end.

Dan 122, Many of those who sleep in the dust
of the ground will awake, these to everlasting
(OLAM) life (CHAY), but the others to disgrace
and everlasting contempt.

Eternal life means, God, who is eternal life, has
given of His life to the believer in Jesus
Christ, even though we had a physical and
spiritual beginning.

We are not waiting for our Eternal Life to begin
we have it now by faith and the sovereign choice
of God.

This Eternal Life is imputed to the human spirit,
which is created for you by God the Holy Spirit
at your regeneration.

2. Three Categories of E.L. a) The believer has
E.L. while living on the earth, having both
earthly (temporal life) and Eternal Life.

b) The believer has E.L. after death while
living in heaven and waiting for his resurrection
body. This can be classified as having both
interim life and Eternal Life.

c) The believer has E.L. forever when he
receives his resurrection body, which is
resurrection life and Eternal Life.

3. A Body for Each Stage of Eternal Life. a.
Temporal life plus E.L. has the body of
corruption with the Old Sin Nature.

b. The interim life plus E.L. has the interim
body which is recognizable and experiences no
more pain, tears, sorrow, Old Sin Nature, or

c. Resurrection life plus E.L. has the
resurrection body.

4. Eternal life is attainable only in time. You
cannot obtain E.L. once you die as an
unbeliever.Rev 2012-212

Eternal life begins in time. 2 Cor 62 says For
He says, At the acceptable time I listened to
you, and on the day of salvation I helped you.
Behold, now is the acceptable time, behold, now
is the day of salvation. You cannot obtain
Eternal Life in eternity you have to get it now.

5. Eternal Life belongs only to the believer who
is never without a body.

If God gave you Eternal Life He is going to take
care of you during that interim before you reach
eternity.

1 Tim 612, Fight the good fight of faith take
hold of the Eternal Life to which you were
called, and you made the good confession in the
presence of many witnesses.
