Overview of Proposed Changes

• Addition of Gymnasium / Music / Theater Space
• Renovated Special Education / Student Services
  space
• Renovated Classroom Space
• Renovated Flooring

Addition of Gymnasium / Music / Theater Space

• The current gymnasium space is outdated and
  unsafe for use by students engaged in organized
  activities
• Gym capacity is exceeded by assemblies
• Tile surface is inappropriate for sports
• Gym size is not appropriate for age group or for
  public use
• Band exceeds capacity for cafeteria space
• Music classes and lessons are held in open
  cafeteria and are subject to interruption

Improvement to these areas would

• Create safer and more educationally appropriate
  spaces for physical education
• Increase capacity for assemblies
• Open opportunities for community use of
  facilities to ease pressure on High School /
  Harold Martin School
• Create educationally appropriate spaces for music
  and Band

Renovated Special Education / Student Services
and Storage

• Addition of new gymnasium music facility will
  leave existing spaces for reclamation
• Consolidation of Special Education, OT, PT, ADL,
  Speech Language, Behavior Specialist,
  Psychological Services, Counseling into communal
  area would increase efficiency and help to
  address stigma
• Cafeteria space increase would assist in student
  comfort and behavior improvement
• Nursing spaces would be improved to address
  population needs
• Need additional supply and maintenance storage
  facilities
