Alright children, it is time to quiet down now.
Mr. Rash, your principal, has something very
important to say.
I wonder what Mr. Rash has to say that is so
important?

Good morning students! Today is a big day
because in 2 months we will have our annual
school poetry contest. That means you have about
6 weeks to memorize your poems so we can begin
our classroom preliminaries. I am excited to see
what this years contest will bring us, and good
luck to all!

I cant wait to tell mom and dad about the
contest!

Is everything alright down here?
Everything is fine. Nikki is just excited about
the poetry contest at school. Lets head
upstairs and look at my books.
Whats wrong? Is everything okay?
Mom! Dad! Is anyone home?
Mom, the school poetry contest is in 2 months!
Where are our poetry books? I need to start
practicing right now!

Does anyone want to perform their poem first?
Since nobody has volunteered, I will call out
names randomly. The first to go will be Nikki
DiGioia.
The poem I will be reciting is, If the World
Were Crazy, by Shel Silverstein.

Good Afternoon students! I will be announcing
the winners of each classroom for the poetry
contest. From 4A we have Tim Jones, and from 4B
we have Nikki DiGioia.

Welcome everyone to this years poetry contest.
We will start off with 4th grade and Nikki DiGioia
Just relax and pretend like the whole audience is
in their underwear.
Hah! That never works.
I cant believe I am about to go in front of the
entire school!

And now for the results.For 3rd place we have
Carolyn Thalin from 7th grade. In second place
we have Nikki DiGioia from 4th grade. And 1st
place is Maria Lambert from 8th grade.
Congratulations again to all of you, a job well
done!

Nik, your dad and I are so proud of you. You
truly did amazing up there.
This just shows that hard work pays off!
