  • The Animals of Herds

2
Introduction
  • I choose because I love horses so much and that
the horses are so instrusting animals. I wish
people could let more horses free. I hope you
like my report on the horse.

3
What Does it Look Like
  • Horses are beautiful and powerful animal.
  • The largest horse is a Shire. It can grow up to
5 feet 8 inches thats about two of my little
brother Thomas! It also can weight up to 2,000
    pounds.
  • A human has about 28-32 teeth in their mouth, but
a male horse has 40 teeth and a mare has 36 teeth

4
How Does it Live
  • Our favorite foods are candy, cake, ice cream,
and meat. But a horses favorite food are
grasses, shruds, trees, and even poison ivy.
  • Foals are the baby horses. Most of the foals are
born in April and May. They are nursed until
they are 10 months old. The horses are chased
away from their herd when they are 1 year old.
  • The horses are herbivores that means they dont
    eat meat.

5
Where does it live
  • We live in houses but horses live in dry hills,
forests, mountains, dry brushes areas, swamps,
and seashores. They are mostly found in Asia,
and the United States of America. Horses can be
found in many states, the following are the most
common California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, New
Mexico, Arizona, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Montana,
    Virginia, and Maryland.

6
How is it Adapted
  • The best way to protect the foals is to live in a
    herd.
  • The speed of a horse is about 35 miles per hour,
thats the same the speed limit on Bluemound.
  • If a male horse is the leader of the herd it is
called a stallion but if a female if the leader
of the herd it is called a harem.
  • The horses enemies are wolves, coyotes, and
mountain lion. And a wild wolf will eat stray
foals. But the horses worst enemy are the human
they wont go close to them.
  • The horse has a good sense of smell which helps
them protect themselves, along with an excellent
memory and their ability to learn signals.

7
Interesting facts and other info
  • The size of a herd varies from 60 to 150 horses.
The young horses like to play and fight, it is
called mock fighting. If the young horses dont
listen they will get a bite or a flank from the
leader of the herd. There are 150 of horses and
ponies. The horse may look friendly but truly
wild. A male horse is called a colt and a female
    is called a filly.

8
Conclusion
  • I hope you like my report about the wild horse.
If you ever decide on doing a report on a animal
I think you should do the wild horse. Learning
about it will only help us to be sure it stays a
    part of the global environment.
