Using Support Materials
  • Support materials help you enforce your main
    points. Remember
  • You state EACH main point
  • You SUPPORT and discuss THE point
  • You restate and summarize THE point
  • You do this for EACH point you have.

Amplification Devices
  • Information that make your ideas more clear to
    the audience.
  • Descriptions vivid imagery for your audience to
    see things clearly.
  • Comparisons compare an idea to something the
    audience is familiar with.
  • Contrasts pointing out differences (dont use
    this too much).
  • Examples using characters from a book, a scene
    from a movie, a play from a baseball game to
    enforce a topic.

  • Your audience will find your presentation much
    more interesting with A.V. aids.

  • Objects Models
  • A three-dimensional representation of something
  • Can be live or inanimate
  • Engages the audience in your presentation

PICTURES
  • Photos, slides, sketches, videotapes, DVDs,
    cartoons, and drawings.
  • MUST BE LARGE ENOUGH FOR viewing by audience from
    afar!

Pictorial Symbols
  • Concepts and Statistics are presented in
    pictorial symbols, such as graphs, charts and
    diagrams.

Computer-Generated Visuals
  • Ready made art, symbols, graphs, charts.
  • Sound effects.
  • Adds color and emphasis easily.
  • Make sure the font is 44 or above.
  • Dont use too many distracting colors.
  • Theres a fine line between not enough and too
    much.

BE PREPARED
  • Make sure your materials are organized and easily

  • Dont use too many special effects, the audience
    will remember THEM, not YOU

  • Antithesis involves pairing opposing words or
    ideas together sink or swim.
  • Transitions help you move smoothly through your
    presentation lets proceed, on the other
    hand, finally, If this is so, then what
    about?.
  • Previews and Summaries tell them what you are
    going to tell them, tell them, then tell them
    what youve just told them.
