John 1931-33

• Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day,
  that the bodies should not remain on the cross on
  the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day),
  the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be
  broken, and that they might be taken away. Then
  the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first
  and of the other who was crucified with Him. But
  when they came to Jesus and saw that He was
  already dead, they did not break His legs.

• But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a
  spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
  And he who has seen has testified, and his
  testimony is true and he knows that he is

Hebrews 919-22

• For when Moses had spoken every precept to all
  the people according to the law, he took the
  blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet
  wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book
  itself and all the people, saying, "This is the
  blood of the covenant which God has commanded
  you." Then likewise he sprinkled with blood both
  the tabernacle and all the vessels of the
  ministry. And according to the law almost all
  things are purified with blood, and without
  shedding of blood there is no remission.

Hebrews 101-4

• For the law, having a shadow of the good things
  to come, and not the very image of the things,
  can never with these same sacrifices, which they
  offer continually year by year, make those who
  approach perfect. For then would they not have
  ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once
  purified, would have had no more consciousness of
  sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder
  of sins every year. For it is not possible that
  the blood of bulls and goats could take away
  sins.

  expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation
  which will devour the adversaries.
