Title: John 19:3133

1
John 1931-33
  • Therefore, because it was the Preparation Day,
that the bodies should not remain on the cross on
the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a high day),
the Jews asked Pilate that their legs might be
broken, and that they might be taken away. Then
the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first
and of the other who was crucified with Him. But
when they came to Jesus and saw that He was
already dead, they did not break His legs.

2
John 1934-37
  • But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a
spear, and immediately blood and water came out.
And he who has seen has testified, and his
testimony is true and he knows that he is
telling the truth, so that you may believe. For
these things were done that the Scripture should
be fulfilled, "Not one of His bones shall be
broken." And again another Scripture says, "They
shall look on Him whom they pierced."

4
Things you need to know
  • about the Blood of Christ

5
Blood
  • Has always been held sacred by both God and man,
in that there is life in the blood.

6
Leviticus 178-9
  • "Also you shall say to them 'Whatever man of the
house of Israel, or of the strangers who dwell
among you, who offers a burnt offering or
sacrifice, and does not bring it to the door of
the tabernacle of meeting, to offer it to the
Lord, that man shall be cut off from among his
    people.

7
Leviticus 1710-11
  • 'And whatever man of the house of Israel, or of
the strangers who dwell among you, who eats any
blood, I will set My face against that person who
eats blood, and will cut him off from among his
people. For the life of the flesh is in the
blood, and I have given it to you upon the altar
to make atonement for your souls for it is the
blood that makes atonement for the soul.'

8
Leviticus 1712-14
  • Therefore I said to the children of Israel, 'No
one among you shall eat blood, nor shall any
stranger who dwells among you eat blood.'
Whatever man of the children of Israel, or of the
strangers who dwell among you, who hunts and
catches any animal or bird that may be eaten, he
shall pour out its blood and cover it with dust
for it is the life of all flesh. Its blood
sustains its life. Therefore I said to the
children of Israel, 'You shall not eat the blood
of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its
blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off.'"

9
The Blood of Christ
  • Was shed as a sacrifice for our sins.

10
Hebrews 919-22
  • For when Moses had spoken every precept to all
the people according to the law, he took the
blood of calves and goats, with water, scarlet
wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book
itself and all the people, saying, "This is the
blood of the covenant which God has commanded
you." Then likewise he sprinkled with blood both
the tabernacle and all the vessels of the
ministry. And according to the law almost all
things are purified with blood, and without
shedding of blood there is no remission.

11
Hebrews 101-4
  • For the law, having a shadow of the good things
to come, and not the very image of the things,
can never with these same sacrifices, which they
offer continually year by year, make those who
approach perfect. For then would they not have
ceased to be offered? For the worshipers, once
purified, would have had no more consciousness of
sins. But in those sacrifices there is a reminder
of sins every year. For it is not possible that
the blood of bulls and goats could take away
    sins.

12
The Blood of Christ
  • Was shed as a sacrifice for our sins.
  • Wiped out the Law of Moses.

13
Colossians 213-14
  • And you, being dead in your trespasses and the
uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive
together with Him, having forgiven you all
trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of
requirements that was against us, which was
contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the
way, having nailed it to the cross.

14
Hebrews 108-10
  • Previously saying, "Sacrifice and offering, burnt
offerings, and offerings for sin You did not
desire, nor had pleasure in them" (which are
offered according to the law), then He said,
"Behold, I have come to do Your will, O God." He
takes away the first that He may establish the
second. By that will we have been sanctified
through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ
    once for all.

15
The Blood of Christ
  • Was shed as a sacrifice for our sins.
  • Wiped out the Law of Moses.
  • Dedicated the New Covenant.

16
Hebrews 915-18
  • And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new
covenant, by means of death, for the redemption
of the transgressions under the first covenant,
that those who are called may receive the promise
of the eternal inheritance. "This is the covenant
that I will make with them after those days, says
the Lord I will put My laws into their hearts,
and in their minds I will write them," then He
adds, "Their sins and their lawless deeds I will
remember no more." Now where there is remission
of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.

18
Ephesians 17
  • In Him we have redemption through His blood, the
forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of
    His grace

19
Revelation 14-6
  • John, to the seven churches which are in Asia
Grace to you and peace from Him who is and who
was and who is to come, and from the seven
Spirits who are before His throne, and from Jesus
Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from
the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the
earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our
sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and
priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory
and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He
    purchased with His own blood.

23
Matthew 2626-28
  • And as they were eating, Jesus took bread,
blessed and broke it, and gave it to the
disciples and said, "Take, eat this is My body."
Then He took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave
it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you.
For this is My blood of the new covenant, which
is shed for many for the remission of sins.

24
1 Corinthians 1123-26
  • For I received from the Lord that which I also
delivered to you that the Lord Jesus on the same
night in which He was betrayed took bread and
when He had given thanks, He broke it and said,
"Take, eat this is My body which is broken for
you do this in remembrance of Me." In the same
manner He also took the cup after supper, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This
do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of
Me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink
this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He
    comes.

1 John 17
  • But if we walk in the light as He is in the
light, we have fellowship with one another, and
the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us
    from all sin.

28
Hebrews 1019-23
  • Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the
Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and
living way which He consecrated for us, through
the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High
Priest over the house of God, let us draw near
with a true heart in full assurance of faith,
having our hearts sprinkled from an evil
conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope
without wavering, for He who promised is
    faithful.

29
Hebrews 1024-27
  • And let us consider one another in order to stir
up love and good works, not forsaking the
assembling of ourselves together, as is the
manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so
much the more as you see the Day approaching. For
if we sin willfully after we have received the
knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a
sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful
expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation
    which will devour the adversaries.

30
Hebrews 1028-29
  • Anyone who has rejected Moses' law dies without
mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses.
Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose,
will he be thought worthy who has trampled the
Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the
covenant by which he was sanctified a common
thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

31
The Blood of Christ
  • Truly, there is power in the blood of the Lamb.
  • Have you been washed in the blood?
