• Within the National Directorate for Coal and
  Hydrocarbons (Ministry of Mineral Resourse and
  Energy
  
• Established in present form in 1999.
• Guided by Law 3/2001
• Centered in Maputo.
• Under NORAD support.
• Capability to perform various income creating
  functions.

• To gain control of petroleum data and stimulate
  exploration activity.
  
• To develop core skills locally within data
  management.
  
• To attract more investors by promoting the
  Mozambican petroleum industry. (There are now 4
  active companies in Mozambique).
  
• Increase productivity.
• Reduce costs.

• What has been done
• Reformated 13 000 9-track field tapes from
  several different formats to a modern standard
  format
  
• In total, 13,000 9-track round tapes have been
  transcribed to 4,000 IBM3480 cartridges (this
  work was carried out in Norway).
  
• Reduce the output media 30 of the original
  input tapes.
  
• Built Access database to track all seismic tapes
• Registered well information, cores, reports,
  sepias in exel spreadsheet
  
• Captured prospects and cultural data and stored
  in GIS database

• Storage of 90 000 line km of 2D seismic data
  acquired and 95 wells drilled from 1968 to date
  
• 20,000 seismic tapes.
• 4000 sepias.
• Other associated petroleum data including

• Contracts in analog format

• Work together in the transcription of
  offshore/onshore seismic data from 3480 to 3590
  tapes
  
• Increase exchange of best practices and

• Self assessment of Royalties is the new
  application to be added
  
• New data types being actively considered
• Production data,

• Transfer the core storage from Vilanculos (800
  Km from Maputo) to Maputo.
