Mrs.Gonczaorws Class News Week of December
15th
Current Events Our reading story was Kids Can
Help. We learned about how children around the
world are alike and different in the ways they
play, help, and learn. We made a
comparison/contrast chart and discussed text
structure with beginning, middle, and end. Our
vocabulary words were culture and custom. We
learned about present tense verbs and words with
s blends. The week of Dec. 15th we will be making
gingerbread houses. We will be using white icing
and graham crackers. Please send in a zip lock
baggie full of candy. It could be MMs,
chocolate chips, sprinkles, peppermints, raisins,
etc. I will also need some icing and graham
crackers. In Math we have learned about even
numbers and odd numbers, learned about the
fraction ½, lines of symmetry, numbered a clock
face, showed the time using hands and digitally,
counted money using dimes and pennies, made
patterns AAB, ABBC, AABCC and of course
practiced all of our facts. Our class has been
busy little elves making decorations for our
classroom and gifts for our families! We are so
excited about the holidays!! We have been working
hard on the Christmas program and cant wait to
sing for our parents! Santas Secret Shop was
fun shopping for our families. There will be no
homework/story/reading test next week! ?

• Continue working on Reading Rockets goal (13
  books). Please turn in Decembers reading log by
  the 19th.
• Winter Program will be Monday, December 15th at
  700. Your child needs to be in the classroom at
  630.
• Winter Party December 18th at 130 please
  remember a book for the gift exchange. Boys need
  to buy a boy book and girls need to buy a book
  for a girl.
• December 19 is a half day of school.
• First student day is Tuesday January 6.
• Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
