- Everyone has a clearer idea of what Enterprise in
Education is. - Everyone takes away at least one idea they can
use with their classes. - The school has identified a variety of ways to
embed Enterprise in Education around the school.
4 By 3 00 pm everyone cant wait meet their
classes again.

beasties out there
4So, what is Enterprise in Education?
It is not just about making and selling!
It is about being enterprising
- Being creative, be able to problem solve, to make
decisions - How pupils develop their learning skills eg
reflecting - Encouraging a can-do attitude
- Allowing our pupils to take responsibility
- Our approach and methodology making learning
real and relevant - relating topics to the world
of work
Therefore it is not about teaching enterprise as
a subject per se, rather teachers deliver their
subject lessons in an enterprising way that
contextualises learning, that wherever possible
involves employers, and makes learning relevant
in the context of the world of work and todays

Aye, but why is this so important to us .zzzzzz
- we just want to teach the weans how to read
and spell!
Approximately 20 of our Primary 1 pupils will be
doing a job which does not currently exist. By
the time they have finished their education (year
2021) over 40 of the population will be
pensioners. (So we need pupils who have a range
of life skills which makes them flexible, in
order they are an active workforce that can help

7Why is an enterprising approach so important?

2007 The labour market also needs enterprising
people. These people still need to be effective
employers or employees, but they are also the
people who create ideas and have the confidence,
determination and skills to translate those into
positive action, for economic or social benefit.
We need to continue to create an enterprising
culture in our schools and make the link between
the classroom and the workplace so young people
see the relevance of their learning. We need to
maintain our focus on developing young people's
enterprise and entrepreneurial skills and
attitudes so we create in them an appetite
for innovation, ambition and wealth creation.

Activity 2 Developing an enterprising
school (Taking the Principles of CfE) i As
a group (each table) you will be given 6 minutes
to write your ideas to an enterprising
statement. ii After 6 mins, each group moves
to the next table and answers the next statement
