Introduction to First Timothy
  • Special Relationship Confidence Between Paul
    Timothy
  • Now if Timothy comes, see that he may be with
you without fear for he does the work of the
Lord, as I also do. Therefore let no one despise
him. But send him on his journey in peace, that
he may come to me for I am waiting for him with
    the brethren. (1 Cor. 1610-11)
  • Timothy, my fellow worker (Rom. 1621)

Introduction to First Timothy
  • Special Relationship Confidence Between Paul
    Timothy
  • But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to
you shortly, that I also may be encouraged when I
know your state. For I have no one like-minded,
who will sincerely care for your state. For all
seek their own, not the things which are of
Christ Jesus. But you know his proven character,
that as a son with his father he served with me
in the gospel. Therefore I hope to send him at
once, as soon as I see how it goes with me.
    (Phil. 219-23)

Introduction to First Timothy
  • The Purpose Timing of First Timothy
  • Paul wrote the letter to remind Timothy to
charge some that they teach no other doctrine
    (13).
  • The emphasis of the letter is on THE
faithholding to it, teaching it, defending it,
    living itwith apostolic authority.
  • The letter was probably written around 63-64 AD,
after Paul was released from his first Roman
    imprisonment.
