Durban the Holiday City of South Africa. Home
to Africas largest and busiest port, miles of
safe-swimming beaches, hundreds of shops and
restaurants, thousands of beds for the visitor to
rest their sun-filled bodies in after a hard day
of playing. Conferences, business meetings,
adrenaline activities, sightseeing, sports,
holiday resorts and so much more need another
reason to come to DURBAN? uShaka Marine and
Waterworld !!! Wake up to a stunning sunrise
from your luxury hotel bed and then drift off to
this fantastic water theme-park and have a
fabulous day swimming with the fish, snorkeling
to see the sharks, watching the dolphins and
seals perform, eating in a choice of over 20
restaurants, slide down the water slides, cool
off on the river ride.. So much to do and as
always, so little time!!

One arrival, choose if you want to visit the
marine world or the water park or both there
are three different entrance fees, according to
your destination. Bring your swimming costume of
you are visiting the water park as you will be
having a fun day in the water, down the slides or
on the artificial beach. There are lockers to
secure your belongings in, plus plenty of food
outlets.
The Marine park is built around this 1930s
ship-wreck, constructed on Durbans beachfront
between the hotels and the harbour entrance. The
ship is also home to two restaurants, a bar, a
shark tank and part of the snorkeling pond!
The actual ship is constructed out of concrete,
fibre-glass, steel and wood and the art-work
and design is so authentic, it really does look
as though it ran around in this spot over 60
years ago! The marine world takes you into the
lower holds of the ship to view the fish
underground. Remember to bring your camera!

The seals spend their day in this lovely deep
pool, with a glass front and have regular
performances in front of the tourists. Like all
show seals, they are trained on a reward system,
so love performing to be rewarded with a juicy
fish!
My tip Get your seat 15 minutes before the
advertised show time the stands fill up quick!
Another tip bring a jersey or towel to sit on,
the concrete bench is cold!

Dolphin Tip If you volunteer, you will get wet
part of the fun, enjoy!
Expect lots of photos like this tail, unless you
are quick!!

The cute Jackass Penguins have a rockery and
clear pool to spend the rest of their lives in.
Most of the seals penguins have been rescued
from near death situations and so will enjoy
their lives now in safety.
My tip Bring additional money to do the extras.
Remember, water is warmer in summer. Cool days
have less crowds!
For an additional fee you may rent the equipment
and spend from 40 minutes to the day, in the
snorkeling pool, filled with fish and look at the
sharks through the large glass window!
