The Invitation is Inclusive
  • Awesome Bargain (Isa. 551-5)
  • Amazing Grace (Isa. 556-7)
  • Astonishing Power (Isa. 558-11)
  • Abiding Glory (Isa. 5512-13)

3
Awesome Bargain
  • Is 551 Come, everyone who is thirsty, come to
the waters and you without money, come, buy, and
eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and
    without cost!
  • 2 Why do you spend money on what is not food,
and your wages on what does not satisfy? Listen
carefully to Me, and eat what is good, and you
will enjoy the choicest of foods.
  • 3 Pay attention and come to Me listen, so that
you will live. I will make an everlasting
covenant with you, the promises assured to David.
  • 4 Since I have made him a witness to the
peoples, a leader and commander for the peoples,
  • 5 so you will summon a nation you do not know,
and nations who do not know you will run to you.
For the LORD your God, even the Holy One of
    Israel, has glorified you.

4
The Invitation is an Awesome Bargain
  • The invitation is to come and drink and eat to
    satisfy their thirst and hunger
  • Eat and drink are the two fundamental physical
needs of Man without which they will die
  • God is obviously talking about what wine, milk
and food cannot satisfy it is NOT the physical
body or life that God is talking about
  • Vs 3 ..that your soul (inner or spiritual life)
    may live (NIV)

5
Spiritual Beings
  • Jesus says Blessed are the poor in spirit, for
theirs is the kingdom of heaven Matt.53
  • Poor means bankrupt
  • God says His invitation is free!
  • It is for all who are bankrupt in spirit! It is
for all who thirst and hunger in the spirit! It
is for all who have an empty feeling in the
    spirit!
  • We are spiritual beings housed in a physical body

6
  • Body, soul and spirit (1 Thess 523)
  • Gen 27 the Lord God formed the man from the
dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils
the breath of life, and the man became a living
    being
  • When Adam sinned, God said you will surely
    die(Gen217).
  • It was not physical death but spiritual death
separation from the eternal life of God
  • John 33 no one can see the kingdom of God
unless he is born again-born of the Spirit

7
Amazing Grace
  • 6 Seek the LORD while He may be found call to
    Him while He is near.
  • 7 Let the wicked one abandon his way, and the
sinful one his thoughts let him return to the
LORD, so He may have compassion on him, and to
our God, for He will freely forgive.

8
  • There is a time limit to the invitation!
  • He is only a call away now He can be found now!
  • There will come a time when He cannot be found.
That time is when we die then we will be
separated by a life with God (Heaven) and life
    without God (Hell)
  • The definition of eternal life is simply life
    with God
  • John 173 Now this is eternal life that they
may know you, the only true God, and Jesus
    Christ, whom you have sent.

9
  • How to make the call?
  • Let the wicked one abandon his way, and the
sinful one his thoughts let him return to the
    LORD
  • God will have compassion on him and freely
    forgive
  • Amazing Grace Wicked and sinful as we are,
deserving death, yet when we turn back to Him we
receive undeserved grace and The promise of the
invitation Acts 221 And everyone who calls
on the name of the Lord will be saved

10
Astonishing Power
  • 8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, and
your ways are not My ways. This is the LORDs
    declaration.
  • 9 For as heaven is higher than earth, so My
ways are higher than your ways, and My thoughts
    than your thoughts.
  • 10 For just as rain and snow fall from heaven,
and do not return there without saturating the
earth, and making it germinate and sprout, and
providing seed to sow and food to eat,
  • 11 so My word that comes from My mouth will not
return to Me empty, but it will accomplish what I
please, and will prosper in what I send it to
    do.

11
  • Rain and snow are sent from heaven saturating the
earth. The effectiveness of the moisture on the
seeds in the earth is visible when they begin to
germinate and to sprout. Arid areas in Israel
would be transformed overnight from barren ground
to fertile soil in response to the precious
    water.
  • The rain and snow never fail to accomplish their
God-intended purposes in bringing life where none
    previously existed.
  • The result of forgiveness and salvationlife
where there was only death, an abundant spiritual
harvest where there was only spiritual
    barrenness.
  • Sing, O barren woman..burst into song, shout
    for joy! Is 541

12
  • 12 You will indeed go out with joy and be
peacefully guided the mountains and the hills
will break into singing before you, and all the
trees of the field will clap their hands.
  • 13 Instead of the thornbush, a cypress will come
up, and instead of the brier, a myrtle will come
up it will make a name for the LORD as an
everlasting sign that will not be destroyed.

13
  • Is 56 "I will lay it waste It will not be
pruned or hoed, But briars and thorns will come
up. I will also charge the clouds to rain no rain
on it. God concerning his vineyard Israel
  • 13. thorn-emblem of the wicked (2Sa 236 Mic
    74).
  • Cypress or fir tree-the godly (Isa 6013 Ps
    9212).
  • brier-emblem of uncultivation (Isa 56).
  • myrtle-Hebrew, Hedes, from which comes Hedassah,
the original name of Esther. Type of the
Christian Church for it is a lowly, though
beautiful, fragrant, and evergreen shrub (Ps
    9213, 14).
  • for a name . everlasting sign-a perpetual
memorial to the glory of Jehovah (Jer 1311
    339).

14
  • God redeems us so that our lives will be an
    everlasting sign for Him
  • Instead of thorns and thistles, will be cypress
    and myrtle
  • A redeemed life should always reflect the glory
    of the Redeemer!
