The Purdue Plant Info to Go Booth (Master
Gardeners) is located in the Ball State (formerly
Marsh) Ag/Hort Building just inside the main
entrance. The building is located at the west end
of the fairgrounds, across the road from the
Pioneer Our Land Pavilion.

3The Booth
4Name Badges and Aprons
- Please wear your Purdue Master Gardener name
badge (or Intern badge) while working in the
booth. - Purdue MG Program aprons are available in the
booth if you would like to wear them during your
shift. - These aprons are PURDUE property. Please return
them to the cabinet at the end of your shift.
They are NOT for sale.
5Computer Printer
- The computer and printer are provided to serve as
tools for you to find information for visitors. - The computer has a live internet connection with
a special home page designed for our booth. - Please do not allow the public to use the
computer.
6Starting the Computer
- Purdue MG Program staff and/or a volunteer from
Marion Co. MGs will open the booth each morning
and start the computer. - Should you need to re-start the computer during
your shift, press the power button on the tower.
7Logging into the Computer
- Should you need to re-log into the computer,
look under the keyboard for username and
password. Follow prompts.
8Opening Internet Explorer
Open Internet Explorer by double-clicking the
icon.

We have created a special home page that will
automatically load when Internet Explorer is
opened.
10Using the Computer
- From the home page, you can connect to a number
of different information sources.
11Printing Publications
- To print publications, choose print from the file
menu and follow prompts. - If the printer should run out of paper, extra
paper is stored underneath the printer in the
cupboard.
12 Reference Books
- The Master Gardener notebook and reference books
are for your use at the booth only! Please do
not let anyone borrow them.
13Master Gardener Programs
- Please distribute a brochure (HO-184) to visitors
expressing interest in the Purdue Master Gardener
Program. - Write the phone number of their local county
extension office on their copy. - A list of county office phone numbers will be
available in the booth.
14Give-Aways
- We have Plant Info to Go business cards to be
distributed that list our Web site addresses.
15Tracking Visitors
- In an attempt to record impact, we would like to
have an approximate count of visitors to the
booth. - Please keep a tally each day. Tally sheets will
be available in the booth for your use.
16Tracking Visitors
- When finished with your shift, please place the
tally sheet in the folder labeled Contact Hours.
17Answering Questions
- Use MG notebook, reference books, computer,
internet to answer questions. - If you cannot answer a question, it is okay to
say I dont know, but then direct them to their
county Extension Office (and give them the phone
number).
18End of the Day
- To shut down computer, quit all open programs,
then choose shutdown from the START menu on the
lower left corner of the monitor.
19End of the Day
- Turn off printer (power switch is on back right
side).
20End of the Day
- Place reference materials in back cabinet. It
does not need to be locked.
