Waxing Downhill Skis

Getting Started

• Keep waxing simple at first.
• For good all around grip on classic/downhill
  skis, use a simple but CHEAP Basic Grip Wax witch
  is a combo wax good for warm snow and medium cold
  snow.
• Important to Remember. Always work the ski from
  the tip to the tail. (never in reverse direction)

Clean the ski

• Melt wax onto the ski base drip evenly every 2-4
  inches
• iron in from tip to tail (remember a little bit
  goes a long way)
• Scrape warm wax off with a plastic scraper
  (PLASTIC)!!!
• Repeat the process if necessary

Base or Repair

• If the ski base is damaged remove the gouges with
  a metal scraper or stone grind
• Remove the fibrils with a Scotch pad, or
  something that is handy.
• Smooth out remaining ski base and mode to/for
  current conditions

Final

• Apply a final coat of wax based on cold, warm or
  storage conditions of skis, allow ski to cool
  prior to scraping with plastic scraper. 
• Brush the ski with a fiber brush to clean the
  structure and polish with cloth.
