8Regional Responsibilities
- RBLs will serve as a regional research resource
to all NIAID-approved research organizations in
the area - RBLs will be prepared to assist in the event of
a bioterrorism emergency - RBLs will NOT be first responders, but will
assist local and state public health agencies by
providing expertise and use of facilities

- staff, RCEs, NBLs, and RBLs
- Annual meeting of Network members
- Direction and scope of biodefense and
- emerging infectious disease research
- Progress toward Biodefense agenda goals
- Scientific coordination, new research
- opportunities, collaborations, priorities
