AOL debuts AIM location finder

• AOL is offering users of its AIM instant
  messaging service new capabilities to see where
  people on their buddy lists are physically
  located.
• AOL teamed up with Skyhook Wireless to create
  this Wi-Fi satellite-based locator, which allows
  users to set up and share their location with
  other users who have the plug-in..
• AIM Location is optional and the information is
  shared only with members of an AOL user's buddy
  list.
• Users can download this plug-in for free with AOL

• The Aim location plug-in is an extension that
  allows
• users to have a visualization of the locations
  of the
• people on their buddy list who have the plug-in
  and
• wish to participate.
• With the plug-in a new group is added to your
  AIM's
• buddy list window called "Near Me." Near Me
  will feature
• the names of any of you buddies who wish to
  share their
• location and who are in a set distance from the
  AIM user.
• The second group is the Get Location feature.
  This
• feature can display a buddys location on
  MapQuest.
• Users can also customize their location, based on

• The video-sharing Web site announced earlier this
  week that it will hold the first YouTube Video
  Awards to recognize the best-user created videos
  of 2006.
• Jamie Byrne, head of product marketing at YouTube
  said they want to call out some of the most
  popular videos and let the users choose which
  ones deserve some additional recognition.
