Asia Forest Partnership (AFP)

• AFP is a voluntary, multi-stake holder
  collaboration of governments, intergovernmental
  organization and civil society group to promote
  sustainable forest management in Asia.
• AFP was launched at the 2002 World Summit of
  Sustainable Development in Johannesburg.
• The partnership is aim to implement sustainable
  development based on the 1992 Rio Earth Summit
  Declaration and UNs Millennium Development
  Goals.
• AFPs first phase extends until 2007.

AFP Information Sharing Secretariat (AFP ISS)

• AFP ISS is a clearing house/secretarial mechanism
  of AFP to enhance efficient and effective
  collaboration amongst partners.
• CIFOR has been hosting the AFP ISS since 2004,
  with the financial contribution from the
  government of Japan.
