What is money used for?

• Money is used to buy things.
• We use money every day.
• It is important for you to know how to identify
  the different types of money we use in the United
  States.
• It is also important for you to know how to count
  money.

Coins and Bills

• There are two kinds of money that you will learn
  about.
• Coins
• Pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, half dollars
  and golden dollars
• Bills
• One dollar, five dollars, ten dollars and twenty
  dollars

Coins

• There are 6 coins that you are going to learn
  about.

The Penny

• A penny is a coin worth 1 cent.
• 1
• 0.01
• There are 100 pennies in 1 dollar.
• There are 3 pennies below, so you have 3 cents (3
  ).

The Nickel

• A nickel is a coin worth 5 cents.

• There are 20 nickels in 1 dollar.
• There are 4 nickels below, so you have 20 cents

The Dime

• A dime is a coin worth 10 cents.
