Two Distinct Activities

• Annual collection
• On-going take back

Annual Collection

• Once a year
• 3-4 hours
• Sheriff Deputy present
• Includes other materials
• Cell phones, eye glasses
• Part of a much bigger series of events

On Going

• Container in the apothecary
• Material handed to staff
• No controlled substances
• County sponsored
• Easy to do
• Open year round

So is it working yet?

• Apothecary drop off has posed no problems
• First box filled and shipped off
• Staff is supportive and excited to be involved

Lessons learned

• Patience
• Keep plugging away until you get there
• Public take back much easier than internal
  collection -)

Next steps

• Would like to expand to Oregon sites
• We are initiating internal collections this
  summer
• Help support more work in this area
• Help spread the word on proper Pharmaceutical
  Management
