TURF CARE
10
Principles of Turf Mowing
  • Cutting turf low increases density
  • Never cut over 1/3 of the height
  • Cut in alternate patterns
  • Clippings increase nutrient levels
  • Cutting too close increases thatch buildup
  • Water when needed. Water deep

11
Chemistry
  • Nitrogen
  • Phosphorus
  • Potassium
  • Iron
  • Calcium
  • Sulphur
  • Magnesium

12
Turf Water Requirements
  • Reduce turf areas

13
Watering Practice
  • Water in early morning
  • Midday syringing during hot days can help turf
    hold water
  • Reduce turf areas
  • Water when ground is dry

14
Sprinkler Systems
  • Run sprinkler ½ hr
  • Measure cans
  • If ¼ in ½ hr then 4 x ½ 2 hrs to apply 1 of
