Title: Counting the Cost

1
The life of every creature and the breath of all
people are in Gods hand. (NCV)
Job 1210
2
Who pays when I sin?
Romans 623
3
Its not anyones business what I do, it does not
hurt anybody else except for me, Im the one
getting hurt when I sin!
Are you sure?
4
If you are a Christian, you live for others now.
Romans 147, 8
7For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies
to himself. 8For if we live, we live to the Lord
and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore,
whether we live or die, we are the Lords.
5
The consequences of sin trespass others.
Genesis 215
15Then the Lord God took the man and put him in
the garden of Eden to tend and keep it. 16And the
Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every
tree of the garden you may freely eat 17but of
the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you
shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it
you shall surely die.
6
How do we know that they died?
What is sin?
It's a separation!
James 226
1 John 34
7
When Adam and Eve each broke Gods law, they paid
the price and sin went to both of them as well.
Genesis 314-19
14So the Lord God said to the serpent Because
you have done this, You are cursed more than all
cattle, And more than every beast of the field
On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat
dust All the days of your life. 15And I will
put enmity Between you and the woman, And
between your seed and her Seed He shall bruise
your head, And you shall bruise His heel. 16To
the woman He said I will greatly multiply your
sorrow and your conception In pain you shall
bring forth children Your desire shall be for
your husband, And he shall rule over you.
17Then to Adam He said, Because you have heeded
the voice of your wife, and have eaten from the
tree of which I commanded you, saying, You shall
not eat of it Cursed is the ground for your
sake In toil you shall eat of it All the days of
your life. 18Both thorns and thistles it shall
bring forth for you, And you shall eat the herb
of the field. 19In the sweat of your face you
shall eat bread Till you return to the ground,
For out of it you were taken For dust you are,
And to dust you shall return.

Ezekiel 1820
20The soul who sins shall die. The son shall not
bear the guilt of the father, nor the father bear
the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the
righteous shall be upon himself, and the
wickedness of the wicked shall be upon himself.
1 Corinthians 1521,22
21For since by man came death, by Man also came
the resurrection of the dead. 22For as in Adam
all die, even so in Christ all shall be made
alive.

Me
My Family.

Joshua 71-5
1But the children of Israel committed a trespass
regarding the accursed things, for Achan the son
of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of
the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed things
so the anger of the Lord burned against the
children of Israel.2Now Joshua sent men from
Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the
east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying,
Go up and spy out the country. So the men went
up and spied out Ai. 3And they returned to Joshua
and said to him, Do not let all the people go
up, but let about two or three thousand men go up
and attack Ai. Do not weary all the people there,
for the people of Ai are few. 4So about three
thousand men went up there from the people, but
they fled before the men of Ai. 5And the men of
Ai struck down about thirty-six men, for they
chased them from before the gate as far as
Shebarim, and struck them down on the descent
therefore the hearts of the people melted and
became like water.
11
Joshua 76- 11, 18-26
6. Then Joshua tore his clothes, and fell to the
earth on his face before the ark of the Lord
until evening, he and the elders of Israel and
they put dust on their heads. 7And Joshua said,
Alas, Lord God, why have You brought this people
over the Jordan at allto deliver us into the
hand of the Amorites, to destroy us? Oh, that we
had been content, and dwelt on the other side of
the Jordan! 8O Lord, what shall I say when
Israel turns its back before its enemies? 9For
the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the
land will hear it, and surround us, and cut off
our name from the earth. Then what will You do
for Your great name? 10So the Lord said to
Joshua Get up! Why do you lie thus on your
face? 11Israel has sinned, and they have also
transgressed My covenant which I commanded them.
For they have even taken some of the accursed
things, and have both stolen and deceived and
they have also put it among their own stuff.
12
Joshua 718-26.
18Then he brought his household man by man, and
Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son
of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, was taken. 19Now
Joshua said to Achan, My son, I beg you, give
glory to the Lord God of Israel, and make
confession to Him, and tell me now what you have
done do not hide it from me. 20And Achan
answered Joshua and said, Indeed I have sinned
against the Lord God of Israel, and this is what
I have done 21When I saw among the spoils a
beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels
of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty
shekels, I coveted them and took them. And there
they are, hidden in the earth in the midst of my
tent, with the silver under it. 25And Joshua
said, Why have you troubled us? The Lord will
trouble you this day. So all Israel stoned him
with stones and they burned them with fire after
they had stoned them with stones. 26Then they
raised over him a great heap of stones, still
there to this day. So the Lord turned from the
fierceness of His anger. Therefore the name of
that place has been called the Valley of Achor to
this day.
13
Only Achan?
No, his family also.
Joshua 724
24Then Joshua, and all Israel with him, took
Achan the son of Zerah, the silver, the garment,
the wedge of gold, his sons, his daughters, his
oxen, his donkeys, his sheep, his tent, and all
that he had, and they brought them to the Valley
of Achor. 25And Joshua said, Why have you
troubled us? The Lord will trouble you this day.
So all Israel stoned him with stones and they
burned them with fire after they had stoned them
with stones.

1 Corinthians 51-5
1It is actually reported that there is sexual
immorality among you, and such sexual immorality
as is not even named among the Gentilesthat a
man has his fathers wife! 2And you are puffed
up, and have not rather mourned, that he who has
done this deed might be taken away from among
you. 3For I indeed, as absent in body but present
in spirit, have already judged (as though I were
present) him who has so done this deed. 4In the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you are
gathered together, along with my spirit, with the
power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5deliver such a
one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh,
that his spirit may be saved in the day of the
Lord Jesus.
16
Paul is blaming the whole church when he says
2And you are puffed up, and have not rather
mourned, that he who has done this deed might be
taken away from among you.
What is the action that we need to take?
1 Corinthians 54,5
4In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when you
are gathered together, along with my spirit, with
the power of our Lord Jesus Christ, 5deliver such
a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh,
that his spirit may be saved in the day of the
Lord Jesus.
17
Can we all be infected by someone who is living
in sin among us?
1 Corinthians 56
6Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that
a little leaven leavens the whole lump?
7Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may
be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened.
For indeed Christ, our Passover, was sacrificed
for us.
Who is the old leaven?
18
1 Corinthians 59-11
9I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company
with sexually immoral people. 10Yet I certainly
did not mean with the sexually immoral people of
this world, or with the covetous, or
extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would
need to go out of the world. 11But now I have
written to you not to keep company with anyone
named a brother, who is sexually immoral, or
covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a
drunkard, or an extortioner not even to eat with
such a person.
Paul tells us to not even eat with such a person.
19
2 John 9-11
9Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the
doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who
abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the
Father and the Son. 10If anyone comes to you and
does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him
into your house nor greet him 11for he who
greets him shares in his evil deeds.
20
Ephesians 511
11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful
works of darkness, but rather expose them.
NO!
21
Rather expose them!
What is that?
To make known, To reveal the guilt or wrongdoing
of to cause to be visible or open to view. To
set forth to set out to public view to exhibit
to show to display as, to expose goods for
sale to expose pictures to public
inspection.www.dictonary.com

17Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause
divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine
which you learned, and avoid them.
Why?
