Welcome to my Word lesson!
  • When you have completed this tutorial, you should
    have all the information you need to complete
    Assignment 3.
  • (Please be aware that this is just a lesson, not
    the actual assignment. The instructions for the
    assignment you need to submit are on the course
    website under Lab Assignments.)

Open the newsletter document
  • If you are at home, please download the
    Prevention.docx data file from my website.
  • If you are at school, read on!
  • Open the Start menu
  • Go to Programs, choose To Students
  • Open CGS 2100 Data Files
  • Open 90577-6_Word
  • Open Tutorial.04, then Tutorial
  • Finally, open Prevention.docx

Using WordArt to Create a Headline
  • Place your insertion point at the beginning of
    the document. (In other words, click before
    Preventing so you see your little flashing bar
    there.)
  • Click the Insert tab.
  • In the Text group, click the WordArt button. You
    should see this

  • 4. Choose a WordArt style that you like. An Edit
    WordArt dialog box will open.
  • 5. Type Healthy Living to replace the Your
    Text Here text.
  • Side note you can also change the font and size
    here. You will need to know this for the
    assignment.
  • 6. Click OK.

  • You should now see this
  • For future reference, when you have the WordArt
    selected, a WordArt Tools tab will appear on
    the ribbon. You can use this to edit the WordArt
    further.
  • Go to the next step.

Centering the WordArt
  • Click directly after your WordArt graphic, and
    press ENTER.
  • You should now see this
  • Now click on the WordArt graphic to select it.
  • Click on the Home tab (if you are not there
    already).
  • In the Paragraph group, click on the Center
    button.

  • Click to the left of Preventing Type II
    Diabetes.
  • Click the Page Layout tab.
  • In the Page Setup group, click the Columns
    button.
  • Choose More Columns

  • Set your dialog box to look like mine
  • Select Two
  • Check Line between
  • Select This point forward
  • from the dropdown menu
  • Click OK.

What we have so far
  • Your page should look similar to the one on the
    right (you may have different WordArt or sizing.)
    If so, go to the next step.
  • If it looks dramatically different, you can press
    CTRLZ (Ctrl and Z at the same time) to undo your
    last several steps so that you can re-try them.
    (CTRLY is redo.)

Inserting Clipart
  • Click at the beginning of the paragraph below
    Get Moving (right before The surgeon).
  • Click the Insert tab.
  • In the Illustrations group, click the Clip Art
    button.
  • A search bar will pop up on the right of the
    screen.
  • Type running in the Search for
  • field.

Inserting Clipart
  • Many images will come up. Browse for a simple one
    that you like, and click it once. It will appear
    in your document.
  • By default, both the image and the Picture Tools
    format tab should
  • be selected. If not, first
  • select the image, then
  • the Picture Tools format
  • tab from the ribbon.

Formatting Clipart
  • From the Arrange group, click the Text Wrapping
    button.
  • This forces the text to wrap around
  • your picture. Select Tight.
  • The text should now wrap around
  • your image like this

  • Click in the paragraph below the heading
    Preventing Type II Diabetes.
  • Click the Insert tab.
  • In the Text group, click the Drop Cap button.
  • Choose Dropped.
  • Once youve deselected the drop
  • cap, you should see this

  • If you cant see the whole page, change the view
    by
  • Clicking the View tab
  • In the Zoom group, click One Page
  • Click the Page Layout tab.
  • In the Page Background group, click the Page
    Borders button. A dialog box will appear

  • Edit your settings so that they are like mine
  • Choose the Box setting
  • Scroll down and select the line style shown at
    right
  • Make sure Apply to is set to Whole document
  • Click OK.
