2Breast Cancer is one of the most common types of
cancer for women in the United States.
- Early Detection/Diagnosis is a proven reason for
greater success/survival rates following
treatment.
3What are some risk factors for breast cancer?
- You are at a higher risk of getting breast
- cancer if you
- Are age 40 or older
- Have a mother, sister or daughter who has/had
breast cancer - Started your period before age 12
- Started menopause after age 55
- Had your first child after age 30
- Had no children
- Had a previous breast biopsy
- Have had breast cancer before
4What are the signs?
- A lump or thickening in or near the breast or
underarm area - A change in the size or shape of the breast
- Discharge from the nipple
- A change in the color or feel of the skin on or
around any part of the breast. The skin may be
dimpled, puckered or scaly. -
- These are signs of breast cancer. But, they also
may be signs of less serious health conditions.
Dont panic. DO talk with your doctor as soon as
you see any symptoms.

- Preventative measures include
- Mammogram
- Clinical Breast Exam
- Self Breast Exam
- It is important to see your doctor regularly!
