Hospitality
  • Hospitality is an industry ever growing and is
    often overlooked in respect to a Career, YES it
    will also help during schooling/university years
    but it can also take you to all parts of the
    world. The Hospitality industry can be summed up
    as follows
  • Every day is unique
  • There is never one day that is the same as the
    next
  • You have the opportunity to meet a vast range of
    people
  • You get to have fun for a living and
  • At the end of the day we all have the same
    opportunity with regards to availability of
    products, but it is you who can make a difference.

Gaming
  • With society becoming more computer orientated
    the hospitality industry is no different. Years
    ago we operated gaming machines with a pull of a
    lever and now we have the most sophisticated
    gaming equipment in the world. Gaming opens up a
    different world which encompasses
  • Keno
  • (This is similar to playing lotto,where you

  • ( A venue where you can bet on horse, greyhound
    races etc. and sporting events.)

  • (Also known as Gaming Machines.)

Beverages (Bars)
  • Again this is an area that can lead to numerous
    opportunities, there are over 6,500 Liquor
    Licenses in QLD alone which is testament to the
    growth of our industry. Various licenses include
    Clubs, Hotels, Restaurants, Night Clubs and
    Casinos. Some of the opportunities include
  • Customer service dealing with a vast difference
    in cultures and personalities
  • Stock Management encompasses product orders,
    deliveries and also market trends
  • Bar Managers with the progression through the
    industry you will obtain knowledge about Rosters,
    Financial Management, Dealing with Conflict,
    Customer Service and plenty more

Functions
  • Eventually we all end up attending a function of
    some kind whether it be a wedding, Birthday
    Party, Seminar or simply a celebration. There are
    various roles that can be taken within this area
    which include
  • Food and Beverage Staff responsible for the
    general service of the function
  • Function Manager overseeing the smooth
    operation of the function
  • Function Coordinator responsible for selling
    the venue and gaining functions
  • Types of function catered for include Weddings,
    Seminars, Concerts, Birthdays and more

  • This department is responsible for the delivery
    and preparation of meals. These days Qualified
    Chefs are in high demand. The opportunities are
    everywhere, which would allow you to travel to
    various countrys or simply work in some
    fantastic areas of Australia. Australia is fast
    becoming reliant upon dining in restaurants and
    clubs, some of the opportunities include

  • This is the engine room of the industry and
    enables staff to branch out into numerous areas.
    Experience in this department can take you into
    the majority of industries but also allows you to
    learn various jobs including

  • Advertising Marketing (Websites, Electronic
    Marketing, Print Media, Television etc.)
  • Promotions
  • Human Resource
  • (Payroll, Training and Assesment, Awards,
    Workplace Health Safety, Workplace

  • A wide range of training is available in
    hospitality. Not only are these courses
    recognised by our immediate industry but they are
    also recognised nationally. The majority of these
    courses are also studied at University Level.
    Nationally Recognised certificates are also given
    for the majority of courses undertaken. Some of

  • The Club industry is a not for profit
    organisation, we are governed by a community
    benefit fund which requires us to reinvest
    profits back to the members and the community

Community Support
Gambling Community Benefit Fund grants growth
since 1994                                      
                                                  
      Analysis The Gambling Community Benefit
Fund distributes grants to assist not-for-profit
groups and volunteer-based organizations around
the State. Since 1994, the fund has distributed
almost 308 million to 28,985 projects. With this
support, local organizations have produced
visible social and economic benefits for their
communities

  • Funded community organisations through grant
    programs
  • The Queensland Government supports a balance
    between the social and economic effects of
    gambling and the benefit to the community. A
    tangible way of ensuring this is by providing
    grants to community organisations through
    community benefit funds. In 2005-06, 40.39
    million was provided to 2,559 community projects
    through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund and
    the three casino community benefit funds
    (Jupiter's, Breakwater Island and Reef).
  • The Gambling Community Benefit Fund funded 2,231
    projects totalling 35.3 million in 2005-06. This
    fund is the largest source of direct,
    non-recurrent, project-based funding for
    Queensland not-for-profit community groups,
    helping them deliver projects to strengthen and
    enrich communities. Combined, the three casino
    community benefit funds provided 5.09 million in
    grants to 328 projects.
