Desert because all deserts are dry, they have
large daily temperature variations. The great
Gobi Desert of Mongolia has little rainfall
because the Himalayan Mountains prevent rainfall
from moving into this region. At first glance,
deserts may appear to be without animal life.
However, deserts are home to many reptiles,
insects, birds, and small mammals.

The tropical rainforest is a hot, moist biome.
Over 15 million species of plants and animals
live within this biome. The hot and humid
conditions make tropical rainforests an ideal
environment for bacteria and other
microorganisms. Tropical rainforests support a
greater number and variety of animals than any
other biome.
