Use of 5-Pointed Star on Our Flag

• According to legend, Betsy Ross was responsible
  for the design of the stars on our flag
• Chose a 5-pointed star because they are easy to
  make

Lets Make a Star!

• Begin with a 6 x 4 piece of paper.
• Fold the top down, even with the bottom.
• Fold on the blue line

Step 2

• Now fold the top right corner down on top of the
  bottom left corner
• Place Point A over Point B
• This will make a fold on the red line

Step 3

• Fold Point C down along the line created by the
  last fold
• This fold is shown by the red line

• Fold Point E up, along the line made by the last
  fold
• This fold is shown by the red line

• Cut off the tip as indicated by the red line

Last Step

• Throw away the big piece
• Unfold the little piece

And you have...

Assignment

• You have 1 piece each of red, white, and blue
  paper.
• Choose one sheet for a background.
• Cut and paste the other 2 to make a design that
  includes at least 3 stars.
• Make sure you apply the principles of balance and
  unity.
