4Trying to fly like birds
- Long long ago, when there were no airplanes
- yet, people tried to fly like birds. They made
- big wings and tied those big wings to their
- arms.
- Then they climbed up to a high place, jumped
- off, and beat their wings just as birds do.
5Trying to fly like birds
- But their arms were not strong enough and they
could not beat the wings - hard enough to keep their bodies in the air.
- As a result, they crashed , or fell violently, to
the ground. - Some of them died some of them hurt
- themselves very badly.

- Today, we have airplanes, and we can fly but not
like a bird, - of course!
