  • The first population of England was...
  • CELTS.
  • In prehistory Britain wasnt an island.
  • It become an island about 50 century B.C.
  • The old british population was called Celts, they
    arrived from Europe across the english channel
    and for a long time werent any new arrivals.

  • small farms with animals.
  • They grew crops and hunted.
  • The typical celtic house looks likes a
    thatched long cabin.

    their descendantIrish,Scottish and Welsh.

When romans arrived to Britain...
The romans stayed for almost 400 years.
  • Roman introduce towns. British people
    followed the roman way of life.

The Romans gave the name Britain to the country,
they come to Britain in 55 B.C., led by Julius
Caesar.
The romans built roads. Roman roads are long and
straight and we still use them today.
They had clean waters, acqueduct and bath.

Romans built a bridge and a town called Londinium
other important towns take their name from the
latin word Castra (Chester, Doncaster..)
Many english words come from latin
(Dentist).

    and defeated the Angle Saxon in the battle of
    Hasting.

Magna carta was signed in 1215 by John Lackland,
so Britain became a constitutional monarchy.Magna
Carta is a document wich limited power of king.
King John was called Lackland because during his
reing England lost territories in France.
Resistance of people to Lackland is famous by
the legends of Robin Hood and Ivanhoe

  • Henry the VIII had six wives
  • Two died.
  • Two divorce.
  • One died after she had given him a son called
    Edward.
  • One survived him.

How britain became protestant
One of Henry successors was Elisabeth I,a great
queen. During her reing England became a power.
  • Britain became protestant because the pope didnt
    want to give Henry divorce.
  • So Henry declared the end of papal power.

Rival of England was Spain.
