From the Commandant March 2008 As I begin my
second term as your Commandant, I wish thank all
the officers members for your support and
commitment. Also, I wish to thank Bernie Dillion
for his continued hard work and dedication to our
Toys for Tots drive. Finally, to those of you -
who gave your time energy in support of the
detachment I salute you! This years Caddy
Day Memorial Service will be observed on Sunday,
March 30th at 1200 PM. I cordially invite all
members, family and guests to attend the ceremony
at Caddy Memorial Park on Wollaston Beach. A
catered lunch will be served at the detachment
immediately following the service. We are
now beginning to plan for the 20th Caddy Golf
Classic at Presidents Golf Course and we need
sponsors, golfers and volunteers. If youre
interested in participating in any way, please
contact the detachment. In closing, I
invite all members, especially those who havent
visit the detachment in some-time, to stop-in and
enjoy the improvements that have been made to the
members lounge. Hope to see you soon.

PM Please remember, monthly meetings are held on
the first Wednesday of the month and are open to
all members. Members Lounge Hours of

PM Parking Please be aware of the parking
limitations around the detachment quarters and
always be considerate of our neighbors when
visiting. Additional off-street parking is
available a short distance away at the ballpark
located on Newbury Avenue.
Caddy Day Memorial Service Commandant Mary
Crowley requests your attendance for the 63nd
Annual Caddy Day Service to be conducted on
Sunday, March 30, 2008 at 1200PM at the Caddy
Memorial Park on Quincy Shore Drive at Wollaston
Beach. A collation at the detachment quarters
will be held immediately following the memorial
service. Members and guests are welcome.
Caddy Golf Classic The Caddy Golf Classic
Committee is planning this years golf tournament
for Friday, August 22, 2008. The Committee is
looking for golf teams to participate at this
charity event so clean-off the clubs and start
practicing your swing. To be successful, well
need all hands-on-deck to assist ask how you
can help. More details will be available at the
detachment quarters.
  • Barracks Duty - Paymaster Tom Lynch and the House
    Committee are busy working to remodel the
    members lounge and make other improvements to
    our detachment quarters. The detachment will
    remain open during the renovations.
  • Senior Vice Dan Dewey was instrumental in
    getting two street signs for the Caddy Detachment
    installed in the neighborhood. These two
    attractive street signs featuring the Eagle,
    Globe Anchor are intended to assist our members
    and visitors locate the detachment in the
    historic Atlantic section of Quincy.

  • Brockton VA Hospital - Detachment VAVS
    Coordinator Leo Cardarelli is grateful for the
    members/family/friends that continue to volunteer
    at the Brockton VA Hospital. Under P.C.
    Cardarellis leadership, the Caddy Detachment has
    participated in volunteer service activities at
    the VA Hospital for over 40 years.
  • In the Semper Fi Magazine (Jan/Feb 2008 p.
    52), PNC Pat Cody thanked Leo and the Caddy
    Detachment for our charitable contributions to
    the VA veterans.
  • VA Hospital Book Drive The Caddy Detachment
    continues to conduct a book drive for the
    patients of Building 4. Please bring new or used
    books to the detachment and well make sure they
    get delivered to the hospital patients.

Caddy Detachment Theres an old saying - that
the strength of the wolf is the pack, and I think
there is a lot of truth to that.  On a football
team (like a military unit), it's not the
strength of the individual players, but it is the
strength of the unit - and how they all function

Detachment Color Guard If youre interested in
participating in the Caddy Detachment Color Guard
for parades and ceremonies, please contact
Sgt-At-Arms Chris Grande at the detachment for
more information. Also, the Caddy Detachment
needs serviceable uniforms for the members of the
Color Guard. If you have a serviceable uniform
that you dont use anymore, please consider
donating it to the detachment for the Color Guard
to use during parades and ceremonies.
Membership Committee The Caddy Detachment is
committed to increasing membership this year.
Please continue to introduce your Marine and FMF
Corpsmen friends to the Marine Corps League by
visiting the detachment, attending a business
meeting or assisting us with our volunteer
service activities. Also, weve created a Caddy
Detachment recruiting poster that we need your
help to post in your community, local businesses
or at work.
Young Marines Program - The Young Marines Program
is forming a new detachment aboard the USS Salem
(Heavy Cruiser CA-139) at the U.S. Naval Ship
Building Museum at the old Fore River Shipyard.
If anyone is interested in volunteering to assist
this Marine Corps League sponsored program,
please contact Commandant Mary Crowley at the
detachment for more information.

Quincy Helping Hand Program If you or someone
you know is in need of durable medical/assistive
devices, whether short-term or long-term, please
contact the Quincy Helping Hand Program _at_
617-328-0102. This durable medical device loan
program is free of charge to all physically
limited persons, including seniors and veterans.
Program brochures are available at the detachment.
Sick Call - If you know of a member who is sick
or distressed, please contact Detachment
Chaplain Wayne Scott so that he may respond
