11LSIA Pen Pals
REG POINTER It is quite a while since we have bee
n in contact with you, but no we have not given
up. On the contrary we are working as hard as
ever but in a different way. We cooperate with
Nottinghamshire Police Aid Convoy (NPAC) to
distribute in Albania educational aid, as well as
humanitarian aid. When distributing the Aid among
the poorest people, we are often asked if we can
help a child and sometimes an adult if they have
a medical problem. We take them to one of the
shoddy and ill equipped hospitals in Tirana in
order to get a prognosis. When we return to
Nottingham we phone up the Queens Medical
Hospital which is one of the leading teaching
hospitals in Britain. We find out who is the
professor/ surgeon of that particular discipline,
give him or her the symptoms and the prognosis,
who give us usually 4 websites in the UK and 4 in
England which specializes in that Area. They are
really good and helpful. However the main
objectives remain the teaching of English to
young people and adults in the evening with the
number of schools rising to 16.
