  • Our boys weaknesses
  • Students dont like to read the information or
passages once before answering the questions.
  • 2. Students fail to elaborate the answers.
  • 3. They tell their experience about visiting one
or two of the above places only.
  • 4. As their answers are not rich in contents,
they cant get high marks in Ideas. Mostly, they
can get less than 20 marks in Ideas.

Reading Test A. Tims classmate, John, is absent
from school today. He wrote about it in his
diary. Read the diary. Answer the questions in
complete sentences. 30 _at_5 18th October, 2007
(Friday) Cloudy My classmate, John is sick. He
was absent from school today. He has been in
hospital since last Sunday because he had a bad
stomach-ache. His doctor wants him to stay in the
hospital until he feels better. Johns mother
told me that he got sick because he had eaten
some dirty fish balls that he bought from a
hawker. One day when I was on my way home, I saw
him buying some fish balls from a hawker. It is
not safe to buy food from hawkers because they do
not have a license to sell food. Therefore, we
should not buy food from them. I will visit John
after school tomorrow. I think he must be very
bored in the hospital. I know John enjoys reading
comic books very much so I will take some with
me. I hope he will get well soon. 1. How many
days has John been absent from school? He has
been absent for 5 days (It
is difficult for the pupils to count the number
of the days (from last Sunday till
todayFriday) 2. How did Tim know what happened
to John? Johns mother told him that John was
sick. (Pupils had the difficulty to find
out the answer from the diary directly.)

the flower show at Green Country Park. 2. Lily

  • Dear Students,
  • The school barbecue day is on Friday, 25th
April. The location is Sai Kung Country Park.
That day, we should meet at the school entrance
at 830 a.m. There are a few things I would like
    you to note.
  • PE Uniform Wear our P.E tracksuits that day. You
should wear sports shoes. Dont wear leather
    shoes. Its really dangerous ?
  • Food Drinks The school will order small
barbecue packs, distilled water and snacks for
you. Dont bring any food or drinks. You cannot
buy snacks at the snack shop either.
  • Emergency Our teachers will set up some
first-aid stations in the country park. One is at
the entrance of the country park. The other is
next to the snack shop. Another is behind the
Ladies toilets. It is between the barbecue zone
and a stream. If you get hurt or need any help,
go to these stations. Each class will have a
class meeting to talk about the details of the
barbecue. It will be next Friday. I wish all of
    you a happy barbecue!
