Jeff Stauring Coaching Spring 2013 Optimist

Jeff Stauring and his daughter Caitlin coached a
U10 Girls Team for the Optimist Club of Naples
for the Spring 2013 Optimist Soccer Season. The
father-daughter duo had a great season and
realized early on that the real challenge for
coaches is to help these players work with each
other and motivate the whole team to continuously
improve. They both encouraged the team to build
upon each others strengths and work together
towards a common objective, so they can achieve
much more.

Jeff says it takes time to come together as a
team especially when some players are beginners,
some have experience, and some have played on
competitive teams. That is where the leadership
skills come into play. Jeff says it is about
motivating the team to challenge the status quo
and press for continuous improvement. Jeff says
that for the team to realize continuous
improvement it is about knowing the definition of
TEAM Together Each Achieves More and placing
the experienced with the inexperienced and the
competitive with the noncompetitive.

Jeff says it is also about having patience
acknowledging that the experienced and
competitive players by nature get it and rise to
the occasion quickly and it takes time for the
entire team to get to this point and enjoy
playing as a team. Jeff Stauring always gets
results on and off the field and says every one
of the members shares something with the team,
whether it is the players, trainer, assistant
coach or coach. Jeff says he and the team really
enjoyed the training sessions with Stephanie
Powers, an FGCU graduate who also played on FGCU
womens soccer team and is now an assistant coach.

Jeff says she is an awesome role model for all of
the team to realize that they too can earn a
bachelors degree and most importantly share
their talents as a volunteer. Jeff Stauring
resides in Naples, Florida. He also volunteers
for Freedom Waters and The American Cancer
Society Relay for Life. He shares his passion for
challenging the status quo. He exhibits strong
leadership skills obtained from Rochester
Institute of Technology College of Business and
Xerox Corporation.
