What are they?

• Comets are bodies made up of silicate rock and
  metal particles covered with ice that orbit the
  sun beyond Pluto.

What are some famous comets?

• Haileys, Hale-Bopp, shoemaker-levy 9, and
  Hyakutake
• Hale-Bopp

How are comets different than Meteors or
Asteroids.

• They are different from each other, because
  Meteors are small, eccentrically orbiting body
  made of rock and ice that consists of a nucleus a
  coma, and one or more tails that point from the
  sun.
• Asteroids are metallic or a silica rich object,
  that is 1 km 950 km in diameter, that bombard
  early earth generations.

Why are they important, and how have they
affected us?

• FIRST! They crashed into earth and killed all the
  dinosaurs! That affected us because now we dont
  have any dinos!
• It is thought that pieces of comets are thought
  to be as old as the beginning of the universe,
  and they have been found to be up to 4.5 billion
  years old!
