3OUTPUT DEVICES
- Output devices send information from your
computer to you. This information is usually in
the form of sound and sight, but some devices can
send information as touch.
4Monitor
The monitor comprises the display.
5Printer
A device responsible for taking computer data and
generating a hard copy of that data.
6Speakers
This will let you hear the sounds that you have
created in your computer. Example, movies, music,
etc.
7INPUT DEVICES
- Input devices are the parts that let you enter
and manipulate information on a computer.
8Keyboard
a typewriter-style device, which uses an
arrangement of buttons or keys, to act as your
command to the computer.
9Mouse
A device that controls the movement of the cursor
or pointer on a display screen.
10Scanners
This will scan your documents such as photographs
and pages of text.
11Microphones
A device containing sound waves that can then be
amplified, transmitted, and output through a
speaker.
12Joysticks
a device commonly used to control video games.
13ON THE INSIDE
- The inside of your computer has many parts that
all work together. These parts are generally
found within your computer case - this is usually
the big "box" that probably sits under your desk
or below your monitor.
14The motherboard
- it is the backbone of the computer. The
motherboard is the home of the processor chip,
pci slots, and memory.
15 The Processor
- This is the chip that does the "thinking" of the
computer. Example Pentium and Intel.
16The Memory
- This is where information is temporarily stored
for the processor to use. This is also known as
RAM (Random access memory).
17The PCI Slot
- These are outlets in the motherboard that allow
you to install extra machinery like sound cards,
modems, video cards, and other devices.
18Hard Drive
- This is the part of your computer where
information is stored for later retrieval. All
the information you access on your computer, all
your documents, pictures, email messages, and
programs are here.
